Pete Hatch Charity Day

What’s this then?

Each year players from across the league, past and present, congregate on the Downs for a league social – picnic, drinks, a couple of softball matches, various other games and general good times. We raise money along the way – whether for entering competitions, donating towards a nice chilled can, or whatever evening activity we have that year. Money raised will all be going to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

This is all done in memory of Pete Hatch – a long standing member of CSL, who ran the league for many years. Pete passed away in 2018 – finally succumbing to Cystic Fibrosis. ‘Captains day’ as it was back then was Pete’s favourite day of the season – so we decided to turn it into a fundraiser in his honour. Pete was always around to to help newbies, tell terrible jokes and just generally have a natter. A true Clifton Softball Legend.

The exact make-up for the day changes year to year – but recruitment for teams is done in the pub on the various Wednesdays in the built up. Obviously all are welcome – so bring friends, family etc. You never know they might get signed up to play on a Wednesday!

We also have a ‘Much Loved’ page dedicated to Pete and the money raised from the Charity Day, which can be viewed here: Tribute to Pete Hatch
